This is a skilled craft position whereby the incumbent operates non-commercial passenger vehicles and ancillary equipment (wheelchair lift, two-way radio) for the purpose of transporting customers with special needs (senior citizens, person with disabilities) to assigned destinations. Para-transit routes are primarily followed; however, fixed routes may be assigned if necessary. The incumbent is evaluated based on the safe and efficient operation of vehicles as relates to the transport of passengers and the quality of services provided to customers. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to the elements. Incumbent must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50lbs on a regular basis and must wear and maintain a uniform and safety equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of a Transit Service Coordinator (TSC) within well-established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Schedules may include weekend routes.
