About The Position

The Transformer Assembly Technician - 3rd Shift is responsible for assembling tank substation and three-phase, pad-mounted transformers, making all necessary connections to brushings, switches, etc. This role involves locating and moving tanks, parts, and covers to the assembly area, assembling bushings and current transformers, mounting core and coil in the tank, and making electrical connections. The technician will also assemble accessories, check lead clearances, perform resistance testing, and work from blueprints and schematics.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution is required.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work overtime when required.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of one (1) year of electrical experience.

Responsibilities

• Locate and move tanks, parts, and covers to the assembly area.
• Assemble bushings and current transformers to cover or tank as specified.
• Mount core and coil in tank and bolts in place, clamp cover in place and makes all electrical connections to bushings, and mount tap changer, switches, current transformers, and vacuum fault interrupters.
• Locate and assemble all accessories, such as oil level gauges, thermometer, pressure-vacuum gauge, pressure relief device, etc. to the tank as specified.
• Check all lead clearances inside unit and assemble needed spacers and or insulating barriers as required.
• Perform resistance testing on small pad-mounted transformers.
• Work with VFI and Load break switches.
• Read and work off of blueprints and schematics.
