This position involves monitoring designated municipal solid waste transfer and convenience stations in Eddy County. The role operates within a crew environment, assisting the Road Department with the transportation of solid waste to Sandpoint Landfill using roll-off containers. Each operator will be assigned specific routes for container transport, and equipment maintenance will be scheduled. The individual in this role, referred to as a Light Equipment Operator, is expected to have knowledge of sub-base compaction, base construction, and surface construction for un-surfaced areas. Proficiency in using compact equipment to achieve desired compaction levels is required. The role also involves the ability to dig, grade, and install drainage structures in right-of-way entrances or under roads to prevent flooding and washouts, as well as placing cattle guards and footers as directed. Daily maintenance checklists for equipment, including DOT walk-around, pre-trip, and operation inspections, are part of the duties. Employees must be capable of working independently and may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform other assigned duties.
