About The Position

The employee will be an integral member of the maintenance crew, working under the direction of the Maintenance Shop Foreman. This role involves maintaining professionalism and being responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of all equipment used by the Eddy County Road Department, Vector Control, Sign Department, and Environmental Services Department. The position requires a minimum of two years of experience in servicing and maintaining light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment, both gasoline and diesel. The employee must be proficient in reading gauges, understanding maintenance manuals, publications, work orders, blueprints, and schematics, and making correct judgments in equipment operation. Key responsibilities include documenting inspections and repairs, acquiring necessary parts and tools, maintaining a safe and clean work area, and fabricating various tools and materials. The role also demands continuous learning of maintenance procedures and safe equipment operation, as well as preparing daily activity reports and equipment records. The employee must be capable of performing duties individually or as part of a crew, both in the shop and in the field. Irregular hours, overtime, and attendance at job-related meetings (in and out of state) may be required, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years' experience in the service and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment, both gasoline and diesel
  • Ability to read accurately all gauges on tools and equipment and make correct judgments in the operation of equipment
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, publications, work orders, blueprints, and schematics
  • Ability to perform all duties in an individual or crew environment, in the shop or field

  • Work irregular hours, overtime, attend job-related meetings (in and out of state), and perform other duties as assigned
