About The Position
The City of Greensboro is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Transfer Station Disposal Heavy Equipment Operator to support daily operations at the Transfer Station. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient solid waste disposal services while ensuring safe and compliant work practices. As a Transfer Station Disposal Heavy Equipment Operator, you will operate and maintain heavy equipment essential to waste handling and site operations. This role requires strong attention to safety, mechanical awareness, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- High School Diploma/GED, with 1+ years of experience operating a skid steer, rubber tire loader, rubber tire excavator, dump trucks, and front-end loaders OR an equivalency of No High School Diploma/GED, but at least 2 years of education and 5 years of experience operating a skid steer, rubber tire loader, rubber tire excavator, dump trucks, and front-end loaders.
- Valid Driver's License.
- NC SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America) Transfer Station Operator's Certification (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date).

Responsibilities

- Deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
