About The Position

Transfer Requests are for San Diego Unified School District Classified Employees. Only one transfer application can be submitted per posting period. The Classified Transfer Request application is only available for Permanent and Permanent/Probationary San Diego Unified School District classified employees . Probationary and substitute hourly employees are not eligible for a transfer. A transfer is a voluntary change of an assignment from one site or program to another site or program. Human Resources maintains lists for job titles/classifications of individuals who meet the transfer criteria. In accordance with the Classified Employment Regulations, Human Resources refers a transfer list to hiring managers when sites and departments have vacancies. TRANSFER OPPORTUNITIES : Permanent and Permanent/Probationary Employees in monthly position may submit a transfer application for job titles/classifications that may or may not have a current vacancy. If you see that Human Resources is recruiting for a position in your current job classification or closely related classification, you may submit a transfer request for consideration. If there is a current job posting for a vacancy, employees on the approved transfer list are not required to participate in the recruitment examination process. All eligible employees on the approved transfer list for the job classification with a vacant position are referred to the hiring department. Approved transfer requests through this posting will remain active from the date the application is submitted through June 30, 2026. It is the responsibility of the employee to keep transfer requests current. To cancel your transfer request prior to the expiration date, email [email protected]. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be a Permanent or Permanent/Probationary San Diego Unified School District employee. Permanent Employee: The employment status of an employee who has successfully completed the prescribed probationary period. Permanent/Probationary Employee: An employee who has previously attained permanent status and is currently serving a new probationary period in a different classification. Eligible employees may transfer to the same classification they currently hold OR request a transfer to a closely related classification. A closely related classification is a classification which has been designated by Human Resources to have sufficiently similar duties and minimum qualifications to make a change of status compatible. The classification must be at or below your current classification salary range . APPLICATION INFORMATION: Transfer Application Process Online transfer application. A completed online transfer application must be submitted electronically. Paper applications are not accepted. Human Resources will review the transfer application and determine eligibility for the job classification(s) for which you submitted a request for transfer. The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map at this Link and make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in. When completing your application you will need to identify the specific job title and job code. If approved, you will receive an email notification with your application status and expiration date of the transfer request. Human Resources will include you on a transfer list for the approved job classification(s), for the specific area(s), through the transfer expiration date. Human Resources will not notify employees when the transfer request expires. To remain on the transfer list for another time period, you must submit another transfer application. Only one transfer application can be submitted per posting period. As vacancies occur, Human Resources will refer the current transfer list for the job classification to hiring sites/departments in the specific area(s) specified on the District Area Map. Human Resources does not notify employees on the transfer list that they have been referred to a site/department. Once referred, the site/department will be responsible to communicate with selected transfer candidates directly.
