About The Position

This position is focused primarily on the recruitment, yield, and onboarding of undergraduate transfer students and non-traditional students. This position will also support a small caseload of traditional first-year students. Direct recruitment involves the execution of a travel plan for community college visits, college nights, college fairs and prospect management. The Transfer Admissions Counselor attends all on-campus recruiting events, including weekend undergraduate open houses and weekday transfer events. In addition, review of admissions applications for an undergraduate transfer population will be required. The Transfer Admissions Counselor must be knowledgeable about all programs the University offers and about the financial aid process and various financing options. The individual will, in general, contribute to the planning and execution of Enrollment Management recruitment and retention efforts for transfer and non-traditional students. The Transfer Admissions Counselor will work closely with the Assistant Director/Transfer Success Coordinator and Senior Associate Director of Admissions to enact new strategies for recruiting, enrolling and retaining undergraduate transfer students. This position will also work with targeted first-year populations and will assist the first-year recruitment efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years experience in transfer student admissions
  • Valid driver's license with a vehicle available for recruitment travel
  • Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle record check
  • Available for regular evening and weekend programs and activities as well as overnight travel.
  • Able to give clear and timely information to the appropriate stakeholders in compliance with state and federal laws that safeguard personal information.
  • Able to professionally communicate via written correspondence, telephone or video, online media, and face to face, and tailoring the message appropriately to the medium used and the audience (example: coworker, parent, student, other University employees).
  • Able to give clear and complete presentations and engage large groups including varied audiences.
  • Able to work professionally with prospective students, current students, parents, community college representatives and university employees.
  • Provides clear and timely information and answers to questions, following up as necessary, or being able to refer an individual to a more appropriate team member.
  • Able to empathize with others and understand the various perspectives that individuals bring to a situation, and address those perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the individual recruiter within an assigned territory of transfer students, and will be expected to build and sustain positive working relationships with applicants and families, community colleges, transfer counselors or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Review and recommend admission decisions and scholarship offers for transfer students.
  • Provide timely and accurate information related to transfer of credits, including a preliminary credit evaluation, and collaborate with faculty and the Registrar's Office to understand the graduation timeline for students.
  • Help develop and execute communications plans, including but not limited to, telephone outreach, text, email and direct mail to prospective, admitted, and deposited students and parents.
  • Advise and counsel deposited students in their assigned transfer caseload throughout the onboarding process to ensure a seamless transition to Arcadia.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of on campus events for transfer and non-traditional students.
  • Be assigned to assist with 1-2 specific projects, organizing tasks to reach the desired outcomes at the appropriate time, communicating updates on the status of assignments as required, and understanding work in the context of the larger project.
  • Participate in weekend, evening and weekday on-campus and off-campus recruiting events for students including open houses, information sessions, receptions and transfer events.
  • Execute a territory recruitment plan which may include travel to high schools, community colleges, community events and college fairs.
  • Counsel students and parents through the financial aid process.
  • Assist with financial aid appointments at on campus events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director, Director of Admissions, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management & Marketing and the EM leadership team, as appropriate.
  • Assist the Office of Enrollment Management with taking on additional work on a temporary basis during times of high volume or need.
