About The Position

The Transcriptionist PRN position is a remote, hourly role responsible for accurately converting audio and video recordings into written documents. The transcriptionist handles a variety of content, including medical material, and ensures transcriptions are clear, precise, confidential, and delivered on time to support organizational communication and record-keeping. The role requires flexibility to manage workload fluctuations and meet established standards and deadlines.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience as a transcriptionist or in a similar role.
• Excellent command of English, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Ability to use transcription software and equipment effectively.
• Strong listening skills and ability to understand various accents and speech patterns.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Additional certification in transcription.
• Experience with medical transcription.
• Familiarity with industry-specific terminology relevant to the organization’s focus.
• Typing speed of at least 70 words per minute with high accuracy.
• Certification from a recognized transcription training program.
• Prior experience working in a PRN or flexible scheduling environment.
• Familiarity with medical or legal terminology.

Responsibilities

• Listen to audio recordings and transcribe them accurately into written format.
• Review and edit transcriptions for grammar, punctuation, and clarity.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information encountered during transcription.
• Manage and prioritize multiple transcription assignments to meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with supervisors or clients to clarify unclear audio or specific transcription requirements.
