About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic II performs skilled preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair of the Goldbelt Tram aerial tramway and related mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems. Working with minimal supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the tramway in accordance with ANSI standards, manufacturer recommendations, and Goldbelt operating procedures. The Maintenance Mechanic II serves as an experienced mechanic who assists with annual inspections, supports emergency response operations, trains less experienced maintenance personnel, and exercises sound judgment in making operational recommendations regarding equipment reliability and service interruptions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-4 years of mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or related experience
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Rope Access and/or Fall Protection certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Thorough working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify root causes of equipment failures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Working knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of ANSI tramway standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices
  • Ability to inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot emergency drive systems and backup power equipment
  • Proficiency using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or maintenance documentation systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance activities
  • Ability to safely work at heights while using appropriate fall protection equipment
  • Ability to train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to less experienced maintenance personnel
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment regarding equipment condition and operational safety

Nice To Haves

  • Previous aerial tramway, ski lift, or ropeway maintenance experience
  • Experience with industrial electrical controls
  • Welding or fabrication experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, operational inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and perform corrective maintenance with minimal supervision
  • Conduct scheduled operational checks and assist with required annual tramway inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with ANSI standards and manufacturer requirements
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and troubleshoot emergency drive systems, backup power generation systems, and other emergency operating equipment to ensure operational readiness
  • Perform maintenance, adjustment, alignment, lubrication, and replacement of tramway components in accordance with maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain complete maintenance records, repair documentation, inspection reports, and inventory records
  • Assist with planning preventative maintenance schedules, identifying repair priorities, and ordering replacement parts and materials
  • Ensure compliance with preventative maintenance schedules, manufacturer recommendations, ANSI standards, and Goldbelt safety policies
  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures and all required safety practices while performing maintenance activities
  • Participate in emergency evacuation, rescue, recovery operations, and after-hours emergency maintenance response
  • Train and mentor Maintenance Mechanic I employees by demonstrating maintenance procedures, safe work practices, and proper equipment operation
  • Evaluate equipment conditions and recommend temporary service interruptions or operational restrictions when equipment reliability or safety may be compromised
  • May suspend or recommend suspension of tram operations due to equipment failures, weather conditions, or other safety concerns in coordination with management
  • May perform Tram Operator or Tram Attendant duties during staffing shortages or emergency operational needs
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as assigned
