About The Position

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture. The job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Applicants are kindly asked that all applicants either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense.

Requirements

Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
Ability to work all different shifts including days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
Ability to handle stress under pressure.
Ability to provide quality customer service.
Ability to physically climb out of the tramway cabin during Rescue Car Evacuation under the direction of the Director of Ops & Facilities and/or the Tram Operations Manager.
Ability to physically rope evacuate passengers and self from cabin.
Excellent communication and superior customer service skills.
Ability to learn, understand and follow verbal and written instructions/directions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
Ability to work directly with the public, providing prompt and courteous information and assistance on a daily basis.
Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Ability to stay calm, cool and collected in the event of a tram operation stoppage of any kind, guests riding with you will be looking to you for guidance and/or direction.
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Prior Tram Operations experience.
Current CPR and first aid certificates.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe and orderly traffic of passengers on/off an aerial tramway cabin.
Perform cabin attendant duties inside the cabin during passenger transport.
Maintain surveillance of jurisdiction and have the authority to stop the movement of the cabin when entering the loading dock, whenever wind conditions or another condition/situation might cause damage to the cabin or danger to the passengers.
Advise the Tram Operator in charge of the control room of any abnormal or unusual occurrences, conditions or adverse weather conditions.
Respond to abnormal or unusual conditions by choosing an appropriate action, which may include assisting the passenger, immediately stopping the aerial tram and advising the Tram Operator, continuing operation and observation, or denying access to the aerial tramway to any person.
Keep current on training received on operating procedures related to enclosed cabins, loading/unloading, control center communications and customer service interaction.
Learn and use manual switches under control, load limits, passenger capacity, emergency evacuation equipment and procedures, and applicable safety procedures.
Coordinate with janitorial staff, practice good housekeeping, with particular emphasis on preventing the development of any condition contributing to personal injury; tasks might include cabin cleaning, window cleaning and/or loading area vacuuming/sweeping/mopping.
Receive daily guidance, training or work assignments from the shift Tram Supervisor in the absence of the Tram Operations Manager.
Recognize and communicate, immediately, problems that would interfere with the safe operation of the tram.
Follow emergency evacuation procedures, handle emergency or stressful situations in a calm manner, and assist with evacuating the cabin.
Work as a team member.
Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
