About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to evaluate and manage the training and education program on behalf of the assigned group and assist unit training managers within supported units, as needed. This role involves planning and organizing the group training program, assisting unit training managers to ensure combat readiness, and processing career development course (CDC) waivers, reenrollment requests, and two-time CDC failures. The position also administers Formal School Training and Distance Learning Programs, is responsible for the overall management of the on-the-job training (OJT) program for the group and oversight of supported unit OJT programs, manages the seasoning training program (STP), and plans/schedules unit training assembly support.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
  • One (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Applying fundamental military personnel policies, Air Force Reserve mission objectives, and standardized training principles to advise management on program execution and resolve career-development barriers.
  • Formulating and integrating standardized workplace practices and career-development strategies to proactively eliminate obstacles affecting employee growth.
  • Leveraging automated personnel systems, personal computers, and specialized software to extract critical data, draft official correspondence, and generate complex reports (including comprehensive training needs surveys).
  • Analyzing organizational data and products to anticipate training requirements for administrative support roles, evaluate program adequacy, and rapidly correct instructional deficiencies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of military personnel policies, Air Force Reserve Command mission, training methods and programs, and Air Force testing programs.
  • Knowledge of automated systems, personal computers, and software.
  • Ability to analyze data/products to determine adequacy of training programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
  • Knowledge of training goals and Objectives to advise in the management and implementation of training goals for the unit personnel.
  • Knowledge of Air Force specialty code skill-level qualifications, update, enhancement, and proficiency training requirements.
