About The Position

EMPACT- Suicide Prevention Center, part of the La Frontera family, is an industry-leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing valued community services and resources for behavioral health counseling, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention since 1987. The Training Specialist will design, develop, implement, coordinate, and facilitate company training and development programs in accordance with state, Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) contractual requirements, agency policies, and industry standards and practices. They will work with staff and management to identify, assess, and address training needs of all employees, participants, interns, and volunteers while evaluating the effectiveness of training. This position is for Phoenix, AZ valley area residents only.

Requirements

  • Must qualify as a Behavioral Health Technician (with a Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of behavioral health experience OR Associate’s and 2 years experience OR High school diploma/equivalent and 4 years experience).
  • Prior experience in community behavioral health work environment required.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in a training environment and 2 years in Medicaid preferred.
  • Proven presentation and facilitating skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office Suite with an ability to type 30 wpm.
  • High level of effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with guests, participants, and employees.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to produce and deliver quality training programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in crisis situations, work independently and cooperatively, recognize personal limitations, and relate positively and with empathy to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Maintain professional conduct consistent with ethical professional practice and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships with internal and external team members, stakeholders, and community and business partners.
  • Maintain compliance with required training.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License, with no major infractions in the past three years is required.
  • If driving while on agency time or on agency business, a valid Arizona driver license and appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT - SPC’s liability insurance carrier is required. At time of hire, a 3-year state driving record with no major infractions or excessive driving violations/tickets is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee training, development and conduct training programs for employees by conferring with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training.
  • Develop, schedule, coordinate, and present initial and ongoing training events, including new hire orientations, presentations, workshops, meetings, and seminars. Present information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats that adapt to varied learning styles.
  • Develop and customize curriculum and competency measures that meet state, RBHA, federal, and agency policy standards. Write material for new training programs; review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs; recommend appropriate changes.
  • Ensure trainees receive and meet internal, state, and federally mandated trainings in a timely manner. Maintain trainee records.
  • Manage and monitor online learning management system (Relias) and user accounts/profiles to add users, create events, assign trainings, and monitor progress.
  • Complete and submit reports required of the state, RBHA, and other regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of agency concerning agency training activities.
  • Monitor, evaluate and record training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Participate in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.
