About The Position

The Training Manager schedules and plans the delivery of training to all staff. New staff receive orientation and preliminary training upon beginning employment. All staff receive yearly training to meet contractual obligations, and to maintain and develop skills. Staff subgroups receive appropriate specialized training.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, human resources, education, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in training required.
  • Valid driver’s license and MVR clearance.
  • A commitment to uphold and promote the mission of the Salvation Army and a dedication to presenting engaging instruction.
  • A highly organized, detail-oriented individual who thrives on planning ahead, drafting schedules, and keeping records.
  • Follow-up required, with the ability to enforce training requirements tactfully yet firmly.
  • Pursues opportunities to establish and manage innovative and creative training which proactively addresses problems in the facility.
  • A “hands-on” knowledge of how to effectively work with diversity in the workplace.
  • An ability to convey sometimes boring information in an interesting and memorable way.
  • Ability to master changing contractual and organizational training requirements.
  • Ability to track and record information to ensure compliance for each staff member with regard to program contracts, accreditation, funding, etc.
  • A solid knowledge base of enriching and empowering educational activities.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of social services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews existing training programs; suggests enhancements and modifications to improve engagement, learning, and retention and/or to meet the changing needs of clientele, the organization, or the industry.
  • Contracts, regulations, and program directives reviewed regularly for new or changes in requirements.
  • Ensures that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
  • Maintains knowledge of new methods and techniques for training, and training requirements applicable to the organization and/or industry.
  • Identifies problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve.
  • Conducts and/or facilitates required and recommended training sessions as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of training subjects including content and tools to conduct training in the absence of previously appointed trainers.
  • Collaborates with internal/external stakeholders and third-party training providers to arrange employee registration for and participation in training programs.
  • Ensures that training milestones and goals meet requirements while adhering to the approved training policies.
  • All staff members complete all required training (Bureau of Prisons, Salvation Army, Federal, State, etc.).
  • Trainings are coordinated and provided throughout the year to afford staff members multiple attendance opportunities.
  • Training data is collected, verified, recorded, analyzed, and disseminated in a manner which meets or exceeds all obligations imposed by the Salvation Army, the Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Probation Office, and the American Correctional Association.
  • Send notices to staff and supervisors.
  • Initial communication of required training including deadline.
  • Confirmation/certificates of completion of required training.
  • Communication regarding being out of compliance with training and providing guidance with how to become compliant.
  • Staff receive quarterly notice as to training hours.
  • Complete aggregate training form at the end of the calendar year to include all staff names and number of hours completed.
  • Maintain and file all documents related to training (materials, certificates, logs, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
