This role focuses on ensuring that all new employees are following the training handbook and progressing appropriately through their training program. SUPPORTED BY: Practice Manager DIRECTLY SUPPORT: Veterinary Assistants and Technicians COORDINATION: Practice Manager, Chief of Staff and Lead Technician

Requirements

  • In addition to duties listed in the Veterinary Assistant job description, the Training Coordinator is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and reviewing training progress for all new veterinary assistants and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring employees are following the training handbook and completing required sections in the recommended times
  • Reinforcing training on: Common veterinary terms and diseases Medications (antibiotics, pain medications, etc.) Preventatives Vaccinations Client invoicing Patient history and client communication Health certificates/rabies certificates in GVL Medication refills
  • Verifying completion of skills listed in the skills checklist
  • Identifying gaps in knowledge or skills and communicating those needs to leadership
  • Meet with each new employee once weekly to: Review progress through the training handbook Ensure tasks and skills are being completed in a timely manner Discuss questions, needs, and concerns Help guide next steps and maintain accountability Work with employees to ensure steady and consistent progression through training expectations
  • Meet with Practice Manager once weekly to discuss employee training progress and provide feedback, needs, challenges and requests regarding employee training progress
  • Meet with the Practice Manager to review new employee performance and progress
  • Communicate any concerns regarding training progress, performance, or compliance with the training handbook
  • If concerns are urgent, report immediately to Practice Manager, Chief of Staff or Lead Technician
  • Check in weekly for the first month of independent work
  • Check in bi-weekly for the following two months to ensure continued success and consistency
