About The Position

At Regions, the Training Consultant - Subject Matter Expert works with management to determine training needs and recommended solutions to associate performance issues and uses consultative skills to uncover the real need and negotiate best solution. This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of experience
  • Working knowledge and experience with credit review, processes, regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

  • Researches the current trends in the topic area, shares this with Client partners, and synthesizes these findings to support learning objectives
  • Keeps current with the changes in the financial services industry
  • Helps to assess and provide feedback regarding associates' acquisition of knowledge and skill at the completion of training
  • Recommends additional self-development or training activities to promote skill development
  • Designs learning item based on accurate, current information consistent with sound theories and principles of adult learning (e.g., adults desire practical application, adults learn best if they have control over the learning environment)
  • Assesses/and meets the professional development level and characteristics of the target audiences
  • Writes learning objectives that are based on participants' level of knowledge and experience and area descriptive of desired outcomes
  • Chooses instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for the proposed learning objectives (i.e., self-reflection, group discussions, demonstrations, multimedia presentations, visual aids)
  • Develops measurable learning objectives and assesses audience understanding during, and after training
  • Delivers training based on principles of adult learning using a variety of instructional methods and media appropriate for the proposed learning objectives (i.e., group discussion, questions, teams, role-play, skill drills, games, and visual aids/multi-media presentations)
  • Facilitates experiential activities by clearly and concisely explaining instructions; providing ongoing direction and feedback to trainees; helping process and draw conclusions about the exercise and engaging in problem solving when the activity is not progressing or accomplishing learning objectives
  • Understands how learning points tie together and builds upon previous points of learning in the course or comments from class participants to tie together learning points
  • Uses computer applications and communication strategies to promote transfer of learning and skill building by preparing associates to attend trainings, and by providing regular opportunities for follow-up and coaching after training
  • Uses the principles of curriculum sequencing and organization, and knows how to sequence content and design activities to achieve a coherent and integrated curriculum
  • Has specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline or function
  • Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • May lead functional teams or projects
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
