About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This position offers the opportunity to advance the future of space operations by driving innovation at the intersection of military operations, commercial space capabilities, and emerging technologies that directly support national security missions. The work is impactful, contributing to the design and optimization of defense systems that ensure national security and shape the future of space defense. The role involves operating at the cutting edge by integrating modeling and simulation, Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and Tactical Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Tracking (TACSRT) capabilities. You will collaborate with operators, engineers, and mission partners across government, industry, and defense organizations to deliver transformative capabilities and influence how next-generation space systems are evaluated, adopted, and employed in real-world operations.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Astronomy, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in orbital analysis, astrodynamics, SDA, space operations, or a closely related technical field, 10+ years.
  • Experience and understanding of space operations principles and fundamentals with focus on Orbital Warfare (OW), Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO), Orbital Mechanics, Orbital Analysis (OA), Space Surveillance Operations, and SDA.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of U.S. and foreign space systems.
  • Proven experience in teaching within classroom environments, delivering instruction to adult learners across various methodologies such as Microsoft tools, On-The-Job-Training (OJT), simulators, and so forth.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a technical, space-related or software-related field, with a focus on adult learning principles and diverse learning styles.
  • Proficiency in creating training materials using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and adaptability to other emerging tool suites.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively and facilitate interactive learning experiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing training-related challenges.
  • Self-motivation with a collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively independently and within a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of Information Technology (IT) support principles, particularly in administering software tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work effectively in time-sensitive operational environments.
  • Proven ability to brief senior military and government leaders.
  • Experience supporting operational software tools, visualization platforms, or mission applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of SDA tools such as COCO, COMBO, DA-ASAT, ISSP, TRIC, LAMOD, etc.
  • Experience with orbital analysis and/or SDA tools software applications such as STK, SPADOC, ATLAS, OSIRIS, CAVENET, C2BMCG, etc.
  • Experience as an orbital analyst or equivalent training and/or certifications.
  • Experience or certification in project management and/or operations support or management.

Responsibilities

  • Representing the On-Orbit SDA and Characterization tool at USSPACECOM, located at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.
  • Acting as the tool's operational Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of USSPACECOM training, products, visualizations, and briefings.
  • Providing troubleshooting and incident resolution for USSPACECOM operations.
  • Performing authoring and customizations for USSPACECOM operational needs, including real-time configuration changes and enhancing exercise and mission rehearsal planning, execution, and after action reporting.
  • Representing the tool in internal and external operational integration meetings.
  • Introducing, educating, growing, integrating, and promoting the On-Orbit Space Domain Awareness and Characterization tool to personnel from USSPACECOM.
  • Training Space Activity Synchronization officers to conduct orbital warfare analysis and understand space domain awareness (SDA) by conducting Resident Space Object (RSO) characterization and analysis of metric observations of Geosynchronous Orbit-based assets.
  • Providing Mission Support duties by assisting in spacecraft anomaly resolution and baseline spacecraft configuration by conducting characterization operations of cooperative spacecraft.
  • Presenting the On-Orbit Space Domain Awareness and Characterization tool's capabilities to space crew operators, multinational partners, and senior military leaders.
  • Creating tailored training curriculum that meets USSPACECOM operational mission needs to support Desired Learning Objectives (DLOs), Enabling Learning Objectives (ELOs), etc.
  • Attending various coordination and planning meetings to understand, capture, and work to closure USSPACECOM operational requirements for the tool.
  • Assisting the USG and supporting USSPACECOM with planning, coordination, briefing, and execution of training and exercises in support of theater and global space operations.
  • Planning and executing unclassified and/or classified training sessions for USSPACECOM and other operators of the tool.
  • Monitoring proper use and function of Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations (TADSS).
  • Ensuring that local training regulations and applicable safety standards are followed by the training unit.
  • Collaborating with analysts, operators, government customers, commercial partners, and other mission stakeholders to address analytical needs and emerging events.
  • Translating complex orbital analysis into clear, actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contributing to analytical procedures, workflows, training, and knowledge sharing to improve mission effectiveness.
  • Analyzing historical and real-time satellite data to identify patterns and characterize satellite behavior.
  • Applying creative and "outside the box" thinking to hypothesize and identify potential new capabilities or interpretations of situations.
  • Collaborating directly with the software development team to provide analytical requirements and feedback for product refinement.
