About The Position

The Training Specialist is responsible for conducting training for new and existing team members; developing and implementing training courses; creating training plans and materials. Primary training focus includes new employee orientation, teller training, and facilitating TMA along with other technical and job skill enhancements as assigned. Ensures staff gains and maintains a high level of knowledge to support the corporate objectives and maintain the highest level of consistent, quality service. Ensures staff completes annual compliance training. May function as subject matter expert or lead on projects regarding business functions, systems, policies and/or procedures. Supports the credit union through participation in additional projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent and at least three years of corporate training or teaching experience.
  • Knowledgeable in credit union terminology and acronyms commonly utilized in the credit union system; Ability to learn and maintain specialist knowledge of core processing system, technical support tools, position responsibilities, and operational resources
  • Experience in developing and facilitating effective training programs to staff at all levels of the organization; Experience with preparation of presentation materials
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build a comfortable rapport with learners
  • Excellent project management skills including planning, time management, conflict resolution, organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends, learning technologies, and corporate faculties, and suggest training programs to meet and exceed organizational goals
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement solutions
  • Follows established policies and procedures
  • Operate a computer with proficiency of MS Office; Excellent knowledge of report software and processes; ability to set-up, utilize and problem-solve audio/visual tools and programs
  • Communicate with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in person and over the phone
  • Perform job functions independently with limited supervision; work effectively on own and as part of team
  • Ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow verbal directions

  • Reports to work regularly; maintains reliable and timely attendance. Available to work the days and hours dictated by business needs
  • Some daytime travel in town, between branches, and occasionally out of town overnight may be required

Responsibilities

  • Develops and conducts comprehensive positional and technical training programs, new employee orientation, sales and service techniques, and career enrichment training
  • Evaluates training results and updates programs as applicable; follows-up with individual comments and concerns
  • Identifies and assesses organizational issues and training/development needs. Presents findings and recommendations to management
  • Implements and facilitates programs to ensure the team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully achieve the organizational goals
  • Defines appropriate training methods to include instructor guided, individual or group training, webinars, eLearning, distance learning, train the trainer, external or third-party partners, or other applicable options
  • Coordinates and/or administers corporate compliance training, health and safety practices, and changes in policies, procedures and technologies, etc.
  • Administers online training platform including creating curriculums, assigning courses, promoting self-paced development opportunities, adding and removing users, tracking progress, troubleshooting and vendor management
  • Prepares reports to evaluate performance of trainees; monitors the progress of staff on annual compliance training; Provides reports to management as requested
  • Provides training for individuals and groups of various sizes, properly identifies audience learning styles, knowledge, skills, and experience and modifies training accordingly
  • Formulates training policies, programs and schedules based on identified training needs, or changes in products, services, or procedures
  • Maintains relative on the job expertise by working in the full capacity of positions such as Teller, MSR, and Remote Services, and others as assigned
  • Stays up to date with industry trends, informs management of technical training programs and goals, and integrates information into training programs
  • Works with management relative to individual employee development needs, recommends training plans to improve performance, and provides follow-up to specified individuals
  • Assists with annual budget preparation and justifies funds requested; Operates within established budgets
  • Maintains training records and facilitates Frontier CU education assistance program
  • Administers training room calendars; works with presenters to have room set up and provides refreshments as needed; keeps supplies and refreshments organized and stocked
  • Organizes, develops, and maintains training manuals, job aids, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials
  • As requested, evaluates and selects appropriate external instructional materials such as printed modules, visual aids, and video or computer tutorials
  • Supports organizational development initiatives, upholds corporate culture, demonstrates leadership and serves as a positive role model for employees
  • Provides exceptional internal and external member service
  • Understands, applies, and complies with all Credit Union Policies and Procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations, and adheres to requirements set forth by the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Completes other assigned duties commensurate with position
