About The Position

LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking for a Training and Compliance Coordinator to join our Emergency Shelter team! The Training and Compliance Coordinator manages, coordinates, and oversees all emergency shelter staff training and quality control processes to ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and agency requirements. This position plans, schedules, facilitates, tracks, and evaluates required trainings for shelter staff, supports onboarding and ongoing professional development, and establishes policies and procedures to promote consistency and accountability amongst shelter staff. The coordinator also monitors staff fidelity to the agency’s evidence-informed treatment model, identifies training and performance needs, and works collaboratively with leadership to ensure staff maintain the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to provide safe, effective, and compliant services to youth.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in social or behavioral sciences or administrative field;
Requires a minimum of 2 years related experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, strengths-based practices, adolescent development, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.
Strong understanding of DFPS, HHSC, licensing, and regulatory training requirements applicable to residential child-care programs preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple training schedules, deadlines, compliance requirements, and staff onboarding processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instruction, constructive feedback, and professional coaching.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, or after-hours coverage, based on training, onboarding, and shelter needs.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 30 days
Standard First-Aid and CPR certification as required by individual program

Nice To Haves

Previous experience training, coaching, supervising, or mentoring staff preferred.
TBRI Practitioner/Educator certification or formal TBRI training preferred
Handle With Care Instructor/Trainer certification, preferred
Certification or formal training in Trauma-Informed Care
Certification or formal training in Crisis Intervention/Prevention

Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, schedule, and facilitate required training for all emergency shelter staff in accordance with DFPS, HHSC, regulatory, and agency requirements.
Facilitate “Handle With Care” training, including verbal de-escalation, crisis prevention, and approved physical intervention techniques.
Facilitate and/or coordinate evidence-informed and strengths-based trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care, TBRI, ACEs, professional boundaries, normalcy, and youth development.
Conduct new employee onboarding and ensure all required training, certifications, and documentation are completed prior to staff working in ratio with youth.
Provide ongoing refresher training and professional development based on identified shelter staff needs, incidents, quality assurance findings, and regulatory changes.
Monitor staff implementation and fidelity to the agency’s evidence-informed treatment model and provide coaching, feedback, and corrective training when needed.
Conduct regular quality control reviews to identify gaps in staff practice, documentation, safety procedures, and program implementation.
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support during incidents involving youth and assist staff in responding to behavioral and emotional crises.
Assist with the development and implementation of corrective action, performance improvement, and retraining plans when staff do not meet agency or regulatory expectations.
Collaborate with Program Managers, and agency leadership to identify training needs and ensure consistent implementation of shelter policies and procedures.
Assist with preparation for licensing reviews, audits, monitoring visits, and other regulatory inspections by ensuring required training and quality assurance documentation is complete and readily accessible.
Participate in staff meetings, case staffing, program meetings, and other organizational activities as needed to support communication, accountability, and continuous quality improvement.
Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy and dignity of youth, families, and staff in accordance with agency policy and applicable laws and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the safe, effective, and compliant operation of the emergency shelter.
