About The Position

Provides students with developmental disabilities support and services as directed. This role involves following daily scheduled activities, promoting a clean and safe environment, and demonstrating client skill acquisition through programming data. The Training Aide communicates client concerns to the Services Manager, provides support for maximum program participation, and offers feedback to ensure services are responsive to client needs. Flexibility in methods and hours is expected, along with projecting a positive image of the Association. The position requires efficient and safe performance of duties, accurate documentation, and assisting with total care clients. The Training Aide acts as a role model, training clients in various professional and socialization skills, overseeing activities, and maintaining client confidentiality. Implementation of training programs and participation in in-service training are also key responsibilities, along with promoting compliance with Association rules and a team approach.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience
  • Ability to be innovative and organized while working cooperatively with generic services in the community.
  • Meet State of Florida Department of Children & Families guidelines for Good Moral Character.

Responsibilities

  • Follow daily scheduled activities plan for individuals assigned within the facility.
  • Promote, establish and maintain a clean, safe training, therapeutic and supportive environment.
  • Demonstrate through programming data that clients in assigned departments have learned new skills enhancing quality of life, self esteem, independent functioning, and community inclusion.
  • Communicate to Services Manager in a timely manner concerns of client training activities.
  • Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities to ensure maximum program participation.
  • Give feedback to Services Manager ensuring services are responsive to clients needs and choices.
  • Demonstrate flexibility necessary to maximize training and productivity. Flexibility includes methods and hours.
  • Project a positive image of the Association as reflected to customers, general public, co-workers, and assigned clients.
  • Demonstrate efficient, safe manner when performing duties and with Association and customer property, vehicles, and equipment. Ensure assigned clients do the same.
  • Maintain and submit accurate documentation and reports as required (i.e. training, production, time records, programming data, payment records, etc.) by specific deadlines.
  • Assist with the needs of total care clients (changing, showering, dressing, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a professional manner which creates a role model for clients.
  • Train clients in professional and socialization skills including personal hygiene, self esteem, dealing with reality, adapting to change, making long range choices, learning to make independent choices, experiencing freedom from unnecessary anxiety, developing concern for others, developing relationships with others, enjoying emotional stability, being a productive member of their community, independence in a work area, attendance and punctuality, and positive attitude.
  • Oversee assembly/socialization activities of clients, and off-site clients if needed.
  • Give feedback to Services Manager ensuring services are responsive to clients needs and choices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients personal data.
  • Implement training programs developed by the Services Manager.
  • Keep Services Manager aware of updates and changes needed on individual training programs.
  • Participate in In-service.
  • Promote compliance with Association rules and regulations and work toward a consistent team approach with other staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
