About The Position

The Posse Foundation has announced a new program to connect students who are focused on arts and culture from cities/regions across the country to top arts-oriented colleges and universities. Conceived in partnership with the Miranda Family Fund, the Posse Arts program seeks to create a diverse pipeline of leaders in the creative arts. Posse is hiring the inaugural program team to implement this new initiative and is seeking individuals passionate about working with young people and the intersection of leadership, diversity, equity, access, and the arts.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Experience working with youth
  • Facilitation experience
  • Counseling experience
  • Excellent demonstrated skills in writing, communication, presentation and time management
  • Ability to organize, manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to relate to and interact with high-school and college-aged participants from diverse backgrounds
  • Must be enthusiastic, possess a strong work ethic, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and serve as a positive role model for Posse Scholars and staff
  • Willing and able to travel throughout year
  • Computer skills (MS Word and Excel, internet research, email, etc.)
  • Demonstrated belief in Posse's mission and values

Nice To Haves

  • Two years previous work experience desired
  • Experience facilitating in a virtual space a plus
  • Experience working one-on-one with high school and college aged students
  • Knowledge and understanding of arts college admission landscape a plus
  • Knowledge of public high school transcript data is a plus
  • Bilingual a plus; strong preference for Spanish fluency
  • Proficiency/Knowledge of Salesforce a plus
  • Current drivers license strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with outreach to high schools and community-based organizations during recruitment.
  • Interview candidates and guide them through the college application process.
  • Facilitate weekly workshops for Posse Scholars focusing on leadership, cross-cultural communication, team-building, and academic excellence during Pre-Collegiate Training.
  • Schedule four visits to partner campuses annually to meet with Posse Scholars individually and as a group.
  • Track Scholars' academic progress and help develop strategies to address any potential retention issues.
  • Work closely with Posse mentors to ensure Posse Scholars on campus receive the support they need.
  • Report to the Program Director, Posse Arts Program and work in close collaboration with other staff.
