About The Position

Presque Isle Downs & Casino is seeking enthusiastic, detail-oriented individuals to train as Dealer School Trainees. No prior experience is necessary, as the company will provide comprehensive training. This is an opportunity to learn the skills needed for a career in casino gaming and get paid during the training period. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be eager to learn. Upon successful completion of the 6-week paid training program, passing an audition, and obtaining the required PGCB gaming license, trainees are guaranteed a part-time Table Games Dealer position. Availability on weekends and holidays is required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, training manuals, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write basic correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as commissions and percentages.
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical theory.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Must successfully complete Dealer School including satisfactory attendance.
  • Must pass a basic math assessment for speed and accuracy performing basic math calculations prior to entry into the training class.
  • Must satisfactorily pass a gaming audition administered by the Table Games Trainer or Table Games Floor Supervisor or higher.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
  • Must be CPR certified prior to transitioning to a Table Games Dealer position.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend classes per the training schedule to learn game rules and dealing procedures.
  • Learn to deal a variety of games with the goal of transitioning to a Dealer position.
  • Understand and provide a memorable table games experience for guests.
  • Protect assets and follow PGCB regulations, internal controls, and standard operating procedures upon completion of training.
  • Learn the operation and conduct of particular table games.
  • Quickly tabulate the numeric value of playing card totals, dice throws, etc.
  • Become knowledgeable of poker rankings.
  • Inspect and shuffle single and multiple decks of cards in a timely manner.
  • Learn how to operate an automatic shuffling device and become proficient at shuffling.
  • Audibly announce all hand totals, currency conversions to gaming chips, color changes, and other pertinent information during gaming activity.
  • Understand the importance of and be able to maintain and protect the bankroll at all times.
  • Handle training chips to pay and take in a proficient manner.
  • Learn and follow regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Demonstrate how to provide quality customer service to all guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
