About The Position

The Pallet Jack/Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting materials and product using a Pallet Jack or Fork Lift truck. Unloads deliveries of raw materials, provides an initial inspection of product for quality and fit for use in product. Retrieves pallets of finished product and transports to the Freezer. Examines finished products to verify conformance to quality standards according to vendor specifications. Delivers raw material to production area for use.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; items in excess of 50lbs will require a team lift.
  • Communication skills to communicate with other departments using a radio.
  • Physically able to withstand temperatures ranging from -10° to approx. 40°.
  • Wear proper PPE: Freezer Gear when in the shipping area, Hard hat, Hairnet/beard net, Steel-toe/composite-toe footwear that has a slip resistant surface.
  • No jewelry is allowed in production/shipping areas.
  • Physically withstand temperature variances ranging from -10° to approx. 40°.
  • Able to safely and effectively operate the Pallet Jack/Forklift.
  • Required to pass an on-site eye exam annually using corrective lenses if needed.
  • Required to view training videos and successfully pass the associated tests.
  • Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to operate Powered Industrial Equipment in all conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.
  • Maintain Pallet Jack/Forklift license and operate PIE in a safe manner.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as stated above.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting materials and product using a Pallet Jack or Fork Lift truck.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent damage to company property and/or injury to self and others.
  • Unload deliveries of raw materials.
  • Provide an initial inspection of product for quality and fit for use in product.
  • Retrieve pallets of finished product and transport to the Freezer.
  • Examine finished products to verify conformance to quality standards according to vendor specifications.
  • Deliver raw material to production area for use.
  • Complete Pre-use Inspection form, removing any unsafe equipment from operation and report issues immediately to Supervisor.
  • Punctuality and Adherence to all safety policies, general manufacturing policies, and food safety guidelines.
  • Completion of assigned tasks in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Complete tasks without constant supervision.
