About The Position
The Train Operator Apprentice is an entry level position requiring training in the operation of diesel locomotives and loading/unloading of commodities such as lignite, ash and western coal.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous railroad operations or maintenance experience is not required but would be a plus.
Responsibilities
- Performs switching operations.
- Performs light maintenance repairs to locomotives and railcars.
- Complies with the Luminant safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Complies with Luminant's Railroad Operating Rule Book and Local Operating Procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
