About The Position

The Trailer Technician performs heavy-duty trailer repair work according to Melton standards and Department of Transportation regulations. The shift for this position is Monday-Friday 7am to 4pm.

Requirements

  • One year heavy truck or trailer repair experience or equivalent schooling.
  • Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
  • Welding experience.
  • Near & midrange vision
  • Hearing
  • Ability to work alone and under stress.
  • Walking, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, twisting and reaching.
  • Lifting 75 pounds or more, sometimes shoulder height and above.
  • Ability to use pneumatic tools.
  • Using hands, wrists, elbows and shoulder for repetitive motion tasks.
  • Ability to work in seasonal heat and cold; amidst noise and dust.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on Melton's fleet of flatbed trailers.
  • Responsible for frame repair, brake replacement, suspension work, minor electrical work, and trailer deck repair.
  • Complete paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed on vehicles.
  • Safely move trailers in and out of the shop and around the yard.
  • Performs trouble shooting on major problems.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
  • Advises the Leadman/Shop Foreman if additional repair work is needed.
  • Follows safety practices and shop regulations.
