Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in transportation required.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-driven, motivated and results-oriented.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and execute tasks effectively.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Must be flexible and able to work on multiple quotes simultaneously.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalents combination of education and/or experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the company's trailer network and the coordination of trailer network management personnel.
  • Manage and coordinate movement of trailers across network by working with internal departments, LOBs and outside drayage vendors, while minimizing costs, to ensure optimal trailer balance in each region to support existing business and anticipated changes in freight demands.
  • Provide daily work direction to ensure coordination and completion of day-to-day activities.
  • Work closely with leadership to define and establish goals/metrics that align with overall corporate objectives.
  • Develop processes and procedures that streamline and standardize operations.
  • Monitor the efficient usage of trailers through the use of various trailer reports and maintain trailer system metrics that directly tie to corporate objectives.
  • Maintain optimal trailer supply to meet trailer demand in each market across the entire company network.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of trailer-related data to maximize effectiveness of processes and systems.
  • Facilitate actions to increase trailer turns and minimize high-idle trailers.
  • Oversee the management and execution of large-scale, trailer lease and operations projects, including trailer lock-downs, management of drop lots and driver/truck management.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Shop and Equipment Sales on quantity and location of trailers to be dispositioned as sales trailers.
  • Manage and improve processes to ensure Satellite Tracking systems on trailers are repaired in timely manner and to minimize the percentage of trailers without working satellite tracking systems.
  • Work in conjunction with designated department personnel to recover abandoned, impounded, towed, damaged and/or missing trailers.
  • Proactively seek solutions that meet our customers' needs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.
