About The Position

Kerry Brothers Truck Repair is one of Michigan's fastest-growing independent truck and trailer repair companies. We are seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship, values teamwork, and is committed to keeping our customers' equipment safely on the road. As a Trailer Mechanic, you'll diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain a wide variety of commercial trailers including dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialty equipment. Requirements

  • 2+ years of commercial trailer repair experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements
  • Experience with air brake systems
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills for documenting repairs

  • Experience with reefer trailers
  • Hydraulic liftgate repair experience
  • ABS diagnostic experience
  • Aluminum and steel welding experience
  • Trailer alignment and suspension experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT inspections and preventative maintenance services
  • Diagnose and repair air brake systems
  • Repair suspension systems including Hendrickson, Meritor, and SAF suspensions
  • Perform wheel end repairs including bearings, seals, hubs, and brake components
  • Repair electrical systems including ABS, lighting, wiring, and connectors
  • Diagnose and repair air systems, valves, chambers, and airlines
  • Perform welding and trailer structural repairs
  • Replace flooring, roof panels, side panels, doors, and rear frames
  • Repair liftgates and trailer accessories
  • Install replacement components and aftermarket equipment
  • Complete repair orders accurately and thoroughly
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety policies and company procedures
  • Communicate repair recommendations to service advisors when additional work is identified
  • Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and DOT regulations
