About The Position

PRS is looking for an Experienced CCT Mechanic to join their team working at the CSX East Syracuse rail terminal. This is a role in a recession-proof industry, with Teamsters Union 317. Prior experience is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and analyzing malfunctions, completing repairs, and efficiently rebuilding chassis & trailers. Duties include servicing and repairing all types of equipment utilized on the terminal, possessing welding and minor fabrication skills, troubleshooting and repairing all systems (brakes, electrical, hydraulic, air suspension, drivetrain), and rebuilding components of these systems. The role requires the ability to perform the duties of an Apprentice mechanic (B) without supervision. This includes performing PMs and services on all equipment, working on non-powered equipment (chassis, containers, trailers), changing tires, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and air systems, changing and rebuilding legs, completing brake jobs, replacing suspension components and aligning axles, replacing chassis tie-down components, performing minor welding (leg braces, T/L handles, leg mounts, x-member repair and replacement, main rail cracks), performing and certifying DOT FMCSA inspections, checking and plugging reefers, straightening steel container panels, and patching aluminum roofs or panels. The candidate must own their own tools.

Requirements

  • 2 YEARS prior CCT mechanic experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Dependable transportation.
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must own his own tools.

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair all types of equipment utilized on the terminal.
  • Perform welding and minor fabrication.
  • Troubleshoot and repair brakes, electrical, hydraulic, air suspension, and drivetrain systems.
  • Rebuild components of the above systems.
  • Perform P.M. and service all types of equipment on terminal.
  • Work on non-power equipment including chassis, containers, and trailers.
  • Change tires.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and air systems.
  • Change and rebuild legs.
  • Complete brake jobs.
  • Replace suspension components and align axles.
  • Replace chassis tie-down components.
  • Perform minor welding (leg braces, T/L handles, leg mounts, x-member repair and replacement, main rail cracks).
  • Perform and certify DOT FMCSA inspections.
  • Check plug and unplug reefers.
  • Straighten steel container panels.
  • Patch aluminum roofs or panels.
