Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a trailer mechanic on class 8 trucks.
  • Knowledge in the safe operations of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipment.
  • Ability to identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist others.
  • Must be able to work in a dusty, greasy environment, with moderate noise and cold and hot temperature ranges.
  • Must be able to follow all required work safe practices.
  • Must have own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Diesel Engine Technical degree and/or training relative and transferable experience preferred.
  • A Commercial (A or B) Driver License preferred.
  • PA State Inspection license highly desired.
  • ASEs preferred.
  • A Diesel Engine Technical degree.
  • A commercial drivers license (CDL), A or B.
  • PA State Inspection License (highly desired).
  • ASEs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Fabricate and repair body parts on trailers as well as disassemble and reassemble trailer parts as necessary to repair damaged areas.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisition of new parts.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
  • Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Vehicle Conditioning Reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
