About The Position

LETEM Transportation is seeking a result-oriented Trailer Mechanic to join their Transportation department, which manages a fleet of 200 Dry Vans and 20 Flat Beds. The primary role of the Trailer Mechanic is to adhere to a strict Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule, perform repairs on floors, walls, and ceilings, and undertake other assigned duties.

Requirements

1 year of experience in the Trailer Mechanic field or equivalent Trade or Vocational training in Trailer Mechanics.
Working knowledge of wood and metal Trailer Floor repairs.
Working knowledge of Trailer wall and Ceiling repairs.
Working knowledge of Trailer equipment electrical systems.
Working knowledge of Welding and fabricating.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Good written and verbal skills.
Must have a good set of basic working hand tools.
Must be willing to work flexible shifts and over time as needed.
Must be able to meet physical requirements of position (lifting up to 50lbs, bending, climbing, standing for duration of shift, etc.).

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma/GED and Trade or Vocational Training preferred.

Responsibilities

Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing components and part upgrades.
Determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Perform Safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Company and the other federal, state, or local regulations.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations.
Perform trailer PMs and repairs.
