About The Position

Depot Connect International (DCI) is seeking DOT inspection-certified Trailer Mechanics with specialized tank trailer repair experience. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of specialized tank trailers in strict compliance with DOT and HM183 (hazmat) regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting ability, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Requirements

  • DOT Inspection Certification Required (Meets FMCSA criteria for a Registered Cargo Tank Inspector).
  • 2+ years of dedicated tank trailer repair and testing experience preferred (ideal candidate has 3-5 years).
  • Deep familiarity with DOT HM183 cargo tank testing requirements (V, I, L, P, T, K testing methodologies).
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy-duty air brake systems, suspensions, and industrial piping.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute repairs according to technical manuals, blue-prints, and federal compliance standards.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (and occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance).
  • Ability to safely enter, exit, and work inside tank trailer manholes (Confined Space environment).
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding shop conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • TIG welding experience (aluminum, stainless steel, or carbon steel) is highly preferred to align with our shop's ASME "R" Stamp capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct rigorous, compliant inspections on various cargo tank specifications, including low-pressure liquid and chemical trailers (MC 306/406, MC 307/407) and high-pressure/cryogenic gas trailers (MC 331, MC 338).
  • Diagnose failures and perform high-quality repairs on mechanical, electrical, structural, and tank piping/valve systems.
  • Inspect, service, install, and repair trailer suspension systems and air brake systems.
  • Ensure all structural repairs and testing align perfectly with federal hazmat safety standards.
  • Maintain meticulously detailed inspection logs.
  • Follow all OSHA and confined space safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized shop floor.
