About The Position

As a Maintenance Worker / Trail Guide, your primary area of responsibility is the Pony Ride amenity, offered during our busy season. Pony Rides consist of the Trail Guide leading a company horse, with the child on the back, around a small, circular corral. Pony rides are offered to the children and grandchildren of our guests (age and weight restrictions apply). This position is a front-facing customer service position. The candidate will need to have experience with and be comfortable around children. You will work as part of a team to ensure the resort meets the quality maintenance standards set by ELS. This is a part-time, seasonal position (up to 24 hours/week; May-September) and the candidate must work weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Must love horses and children
5 years of horsemanship, Western preferred.
Strong attention to safety and detail-focused.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain safety procedures.
Basic Office Skills / Clerical duties – assist guests with filling out paperwork.
Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and current auto insurance.
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with heavy equipment.
Willing to be on call for emergencies that arise after hours.

Responsibilities

Quickly building a strong working relationship with company horses and existing staff.
Ensuring all equipment is compliant, clean, and ready.
Ensuring the corral area is safe and ready for daily rides.
Preparing horse(s) for daily rides – catch, groom, saddle.
Assisting with and verifying all paperwork is completed.
Full operational execution of pony ride experience.
Providing the best possible service to our guests and riders.
Horse care as assigned (feeding, brushing, etc.).
Moving heavy objects.
Driving maintenance vehicles to various locations on the property.
Working closely with management to maintain a clean, safe and appealing property.
Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
