In this role, you'll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the advanced traffic signal and roadway lighting systems that keep Charlotte County moving safely and efficiently. From computerized traffic signals and fiber optic communications to roadway lighting and utility locates, your expertise will help ensure reliable transportation infrastructure for thousands of residents and visitors every day. You'll install, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated traffic signal controllers, fiber optic communication systems, vehicle detection equipment, pedestrian crossings, and roadway lighting systems. Your work will include both routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs, diagnosing electrical and electronic issues, restoring malfunctioning equipment, and ensuring all traffic control devices operate safely and reliably. Using specialized diagnostic equipment and software, you'll troubleshoot complex electronic systems, repair high-voltage lighting infrastructure, and locate underground utilities to support construction and maintenance projects. You'll also operate equipment such as bucket trucks, crane trucks, forklifts, and other specialized vehicles while maintaining the tools and equipment needed to perform your work safely and effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, you'll monitor contractor work, maintain accurate records and reports, participate in an on-call rotation for emergency response, and may serve as a lead worker by providing guidance and support to team members. You'll also assist with developing training resources and delivering exceptional customer service while working with contractors, coworkers, and the public.
