About The Position

The Public Works Department is currently hiring for one (1) Traffic Signal Technician. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the City's traffic control infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient roadway operations. This position involves the installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical traffic signal and lighting equipment. Working under general supervision, the technician troubleshoots malfunctions, inspects signal components, and ensures compliance with City and Caltrans standards. The technician must exercise independent judgment and technical expertise to keep traffic systems functioning properly, contributing to the overall safety and mobility of the community.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Three years of journey-level electrical and/or electronics maintenance, installation and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Current, valid certification as a Traffic Signal Technician through the International Municipal Signal Association is required prior to the conclusion of the probationary period.
  • A valid California driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
