The Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for inspecting and maintaining traffic control devices to ensure proper operation. This includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment, and testing and programming control cabinets. The role also involves responding to traffic control device outage calls, completing status reports and work orders, and driving and maintaining work site trucks. Additionally, the technician will maintain a library of reference materials, including schematic diagrams and technical manuals, and stay updated on new technologies. Simulations will be conducted in the shop to test traffic control equipment.
