Traffic Signal Technician, Senior
About The Position
The purpose of this classification is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic control devices and equipment. This role involves inspecting and maintaining traffic control devices, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment, and testing and programming control cabinets. The position also requires responding to traffic control device outage calls, completing status reports and work orders, and driving and maintaining work site trucks. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a reference library of schematics and manuals, testing new and repaired equipment, and updating knowledge on new technologies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years of experience maintaining and repairing traffic signals.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License, including appropriate endorsements.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and maintains traffic control devices to ensure proper operation.
- Performs preventative maintenance activity.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment.
- Tests and programs control cabinets.
- Responds to traffic control device outage calls.
- Completes verbal and written status reports.
- Completes work orders and requests for maintenance.
- Drives and maintains work site trucks.
- Performs pre-trip vehicle inspection.
- Checks fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Maintains reference material library.
- Collects schematic diagrams and technical manuals for traffic control equipment.
- Maintains equipment log and supply list.
- Updates knowledge base on new and existing technologies.
- Conducts simulations in shop to test traffic control equipment.
- Tests new and repaired equipment to ensure proper operation.
