Responsible for performing skilled technical work involving the maintenance, repair, installation, inspection and operation of traffic signal systems. Performs activities necessary to maintain, upgrade and install traffic signal installations in conformance with guidelines set forth by Federal, State and County standards. Performs engineering studies related to signalization and safe traffic control such as turning movement counts, accumulated daily totals, vehicle delay, and speed and curve slope studies. May perform traffic technician duties. Occasionally performs streetlight maintenance as required and assists with road closure devices and barricades as required. May perform “on call” duties at any time of the day or night as required for emergency response. Emergency Response County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description. Employees may request an exemption from this requirement by submitting the appropriate exemption form, subject to review and approval.
