Traffic Signal Installer/ ITS Technician
About The Position
Chinchor Electric, Inc. is a family-owned and operated company with 40 years in business, recognized as an Orlando Sentinel's Top Workplace in 2024 and 2025. They are a Commercial and Industrial Electrical contractor specializing in Heavy Industrial Electrical, Highway Lighting, and Traffic Signalization projects. The company works with corporate clients and government entities, maintaining yearly contracts with several counties and the Florida Department of Transportation. They have expanded to a second location in St. Augustine, Florida, serving Jacksonville and surrounding areas. Chinchor Electric is seeking experienced Traffic Signal Installers and ITS Technicians for opportunities in Central Florida, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, and Pinellas County, with potential for career and educational advancement.
Requirements
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to thoroughly follow instructions.
- Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Proficient in Blueprint reading.
- 1-2 years of signalization and/or ITS experience Required
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks and can handle the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to, digging using a shovel, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Class A CDL Preferred (Must have had for at least 3 years)
- Roadway Signing experience Preferred
- FDOT project experience Preferred
- Travel & night work may be required. MUST be able to work out of town and nights, on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electronic traffic control devices.
- Assemble, install, service, test, repair, and adjust electrical and mechanical components of traffic signals and related equipment including traffic signal poles, overhead traffic signals, overhead signs, pedestrian features, and other related signal components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to ensure code compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
