Traffic Sign Installer Specialist
About The Position
Incumbents in this class serve as lead workers for roadway signing projects. Since this position will be an on-call rotation, the selected candidate must live within 45 minutes of the Dover Sign Shop. The mission of the Division of Transportation Solutions is to provide excellence in transportation by developing, constructing and maintaining the State's infrastructure in a manner that results in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient multi-modal transportation network that enhances mobility commerce, and livability. In addition, Transportation Solutions provides high quality support services to other divisions in the department.
Requirements
- Six months experience in operating a variety of hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting or HVAC.
- Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Responsibilities
- Oversees crews installing signs or pavement markings (tape or paint).
- Prepares sites for sign installation.
- Determines proper layouts for intersection markings.
- Operates hand and power tools such as air hammers, pipe installers and pullers, saws, etc.
- Operates motor vehicles, tape machines, hand rollers and air compressors.
- Submits daily reports to account for materials, man-hours and equipment used.
- Maintains inventories of supplies.
- Provides training for less experienced installers.
