About The Position

HNTB is seeking a Traffic Safety Project Manager to lead and deliver safety analyses and other projects for Carolinas clients. The role focuses on NCDOT Safety assignments, including fatal and HSIP crash analyses and investigations, safety evaluations, and other safety work. Additional projects may include safety and mobility corridor studies, predictive safety analyses for new projects, and on-call crash analysis requests. The position uses technical expertise and client relationships to deliver projects within budget and to client satisfaction, and includes leading, mentoring, training, and reviewing the work of team members. The project manager develops scopes and fee quotations, supports proposals and contracts, manages client relationships and project delivery, performs technical work, and leads project plans and teams. The role also supports staffing and business development, including proposal development and presentations for strategic and mini-mega pursuits.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
8 years of relevant experience.
2 years of task management or Deputy Project Manager experience.

Nice To Haves

10 years of relevant experience.
Experience successfully delivering similar projects for NCDOT.
Experience with NCDOT Traffic Safety Software (TEAAS).
Experience with traffic ordinances, such as speed limits and no-parking rules.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
Master’s degree in Engineering.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Responsibilities

Develop project scopes and fee quotations and assist with technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
Serve as primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budget to completion and client satisfaction.
Assist with client project scoping and contract negotiations.
Perform technical discipline tasks, including analysis, reports, design, specifications, and production for assigned projects.
Implement HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) and lead development and execution of project management plans.
Supervise and mentor the team toward overall project objectives.
Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, succession, staff reporting plans, and support for performance and compensation reviews.
Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions on business development, client relationships, and strategic and mini-mega pursuit efforts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA).
Work with project and marketing teams to prepare proposal and presentation materials.
Lead proposal development and client interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects, as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
May recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff, including creating staff reporting and succession plans and supporting performance and compensation reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
