About The Position

VHB’s growing Hauppauge, NY team is looking for a Traffic Engineering Project Manager to join our Transportation team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required
  • 8-11 years of professional experience in traffic/transportation engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience
  • Experience with Long Island, NY region transportation projects preferred
  • Understanding of Vissim and Synchro preferred
  • Experience with SEQRA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or safety projects and contracts
  • Attend and lead meetings with agencies, clients, consultant partners, and stakeholders
  • Develop new project opportunities, manage client relationships, and prepare and manage proposal submissions
  • Complete traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridors
  • Lead development of traffic impact analyses (TIAs) and/or TIA reviews on behalf of municipalities
  • Provide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures
  • Conduct field investigations to determine crash contributing factors and identification of appropriate countermeasures
  • Oversee quality and contribute to complex technical decisions on a range of multimodal transportation engineering assignments
  • Address community traffic engineering and safety issues
  • Manage projects involving the design of traffic control devices (signs, markings, signals)
  • Develop mobility solutions which consider all users, including motorists, bicyclists, public transit users and pedestrians of all ages and abilities
  • Familiarity with Long Island, NY region municipalities and agencies traffic operations and safety policies and practices
  • Work collaboratively with team, as well as provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to staff
