About The Position

SRF Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking an intern to join their Wisconsin Group, which focuses on Traffic Engineering Design and related services. This group handles corridor studies, signal designs, traffic impact studies, pavement marking designs, corridor signal timing, work zone traffic control planning and design, traffic safety, and other specialized traffic analysis work. The internship offers a chance to learn industry-standard traffic engineering practices and apply coursework knowledge to real-world projects. Interns will be paired with senior members to assist on projects, developing technical skills and building professional connections. This position has the potential for full-time employment upon graduation from an accredited Civil Engineering program or a closely related field.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a civil engineering program or closely related field.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical writing ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive within a cooperative team atmosphere.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for new employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with 1-3 semesters remaining to complete their engineering degree are desired / preferred.
  • Passion for emerging transportation technologies and trends, as well as multimodal transportation including car, pedestrian, bicycle, and transit modes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual, preliminary, and final design task.
  • Intersection control evaluations.
  • Signal and roundabout justification reports.
  • Traffic signal design tasks.
  • Signing and pavement markings design.
  • Work zone traffic control.
  • Detour signing.
  • Data collection and processing.
  • Utilize various software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, while working directly with traffic engineering tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, RODEL, SignCAD, and AutoCAD to perform design, analysis, and project coordination.
