About The Position

As a Traffic Engineering Designer (EIT), you will contribute to planning, analysis, and design for complex transportation infrastructure projects, helping develop safe, efficient, and multimodal transportation systems. Under the guidance of licensed engineers and project managers, you will perform traffic engineering analyses; develop traffic control, signing, and pavement marking plans; assist with signal design and timing studies; and support roadway safety evaluations. You will apply engineering judgment, industry standards, and problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality, constructible solutions that improve mobility and the traveling public’s experience. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders, and provides hands-on experience from project concept and analysis through final design and implementation. The position leads preparation and delivery of traffic engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and supporting documentation; develops traffic engineering systems and infrastructure; performs traffic operations, capacity, signal warrant, queueing, safety, and traffic control device analyses; coordinates design across disciplines; and provides technical leadership and quality oversight to junior engineers and designers. It also supports intersection, corridor, and multimodal studies by evaluating operational and safety performance and turning study findings into practical design solutions. The role requires a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation design, at least two years of directly related experience, EIT certification, experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or Civil 3D, and proficiency with Excel.
