About The Position

We are seeking a qualified Traffic Engineer with a BSCE degree, CA Professional Engineer registration, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic engineering. Alternatively, 10 years of equivalent work experience in the industry will be considered. The role requires a minimum of three years of management experience supervising traffic designers and CAD drafters/technicians. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong independent thought, decision-making abilities, leadership, supervisory skills, and management capabilities. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients, public agency personnel, and in-house staff. Recent Southern California experience, particularly in the San Diego County region, is required. Managerial experience should encompass supervision of traffic engineering design teams, management of project schedules and budgets, preparation of contracts, fee proposals, scopes of work, and client/public agency interactions. Technical experience should include providing municipal traffic engineering services, preparing final traffic engineering plans (traffic signals, traffic control plans, signing/striping plans, etc.), and conducting Traffic Impact Analyses and various traffic-related studies and reports. Experience in transit planning and design is a plus. The position demands extensive experience and demonstrated engineering abilities in all aspects of traffic engineering and planning projects, along with comfortable and productive interaction with clients and public agencies. Experience with HCS, Vistro, Synchro, and other traffic-related software, as well as the California Vehicle Code (CVC), MUTCD, and familiarity with the Highway Capacity Manual is desired.

Requirements

  • BSCE degree
  • CA Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in traffic engineering or 10 years of equivalent work experience

Nice To Haves

  • TE Registration is preferred
