We’re seeking a Traffic Engineer - Project Manager with a minimum of 12 years of experience in transportation engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in project management to join our growing traffic team in New York City. We’re a close-knit team of about 50 professionals, known for our collaborative spirit and strong relationships—both internally and with our clients. This position may be located in any of Stantec’s offices across the United States.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- PE license (preferably in NY, NJ, or CT); PTOE and/or RSP certifications are a plus
- Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles
- Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and regional standards (NY, NJ, CT)
- Proficiency in Synchro, HCS, and standard business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator is a bonus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for diverse audiences
- Proven leadership and ability to manage interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Nice To Haves
- PTOE and/or RSP certifications are a plus
- Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator is a bonus
Responsibilities
- Lead transportation planning studies, traffic impact analyses, and safety assessments
- Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies
- Design and oversee traffic data collection and analysis
- Collaborate with roadway and structural engineers on iterative design processes
- Ensure quality and consistency through QA/QC reviews
- Manage project budgets and client communications
- Present technical concepts at public meetings and support stakeholder engagement
- Coordinate modeling efforts and integrate results into planning recommendations
- Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations
- Support business development through proposal writing and interviews
