Traffic Engineer Project Manager

Fisher Associates is seeking an experienced Traffic Project Manager (Civil Engineer) to lead the delivery of roadway and traffic infrastructure projects across New York State. This is a client-facing leadership role within our growing transportation design practice, responsible for guiding projects from scoping and preliminary design through final design and construction support. With a strong backlog of transportation work and long-standing public-sector relationships, you’ll manage impactful NYSDOT and federally funded projects that improve safety, mobility, and quality of life in the communities where you live and work. Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience in traffic/transportation design within a consulting environment, preferred.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it
- Experience delivering projects from preliminary design through final design and construction support
- Demonstrated experience managing NYSDOT traffic design projects and federally funded transportation programs.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and MicroStation (preferred)
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage client relationships, and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and delivery of traffic and transportation projects from scoping through construction support.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and quality to ensure strong technical and financial performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, NYSDOT, and other regulatory agencies.
- Oversee QA/QC, risk management, billing, reporting, and project closeout.
- Guide design strategy and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards.
- Strengthen client relationships to support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Support business development efforts, including proposals, scope development, and fee estimates.
- Mentor and develop junior engineering staff.
