About The Position

This position performs traffic enforcement police work through the enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances in the community. A considerable amount of independent judgment is used; under the supervision of a superior officer.

Requirements

• MUST BE CERTIFIED IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA AS A POLICE OFFICER
• High school or equivalent required.
• Must be a US citizen and be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be certified in the State of Florida as a Police Officer.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Must have 20 years of prior law enforcement experience.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience in a traffic enforcement unit is preferred.
• A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs traffic enforcement police work through the enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances out in the field.
• Assists in towing, placement, and set up of equipment such as speed trailers and message boards.
• Responds to rescue calls as required and renders medical aid and emergency assistance as necessary.
• Enforces laws and ordinances of the City, County, and State.
• Makes arrests and processes prisoners.
• Gives depositions and court testimonies.
• Operates and maintains police vehicles and equipment as required, to include motorized vehicles, firearms, radio transmitters, fire extinguisher, protective equipment, fingerprint equipment, and computers.
• Performs any other police related duties as ordered by the Chief of Police in exigent circumstances.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
