About The Position

As a Traffic Dispatcher at Genie, based in Southaven, MS, you'll play a pivotal role in coordinating and expediting shipping and customer delivery activities from the company’s centralized shipping station, directing local and over-the-road truck drivers. Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Dept. of Transportation (DOT) regulations and basic Hazardous Materials regulations
  • Working knowledge of finished goods staging and distribution methods.
  • Working knowledge of packing and securing finished goods for transportation that includes truck, rail, container, and air freight.
  • Working knowledge of the freight transportation industry in general, including freight tariffs and documentation.
  • Sufficient human relations skill to exercise leadership and direction over others, to communicate clear instructions, and to maintain harmony with peers.
  • Ability to carry out all of the accountabilities of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and expedite movement of finished goods.
  • Must be able to keep accurate records of shipments.
  • Completion of high school
  • Formal training in motor truck operations
  • Three years of experience directing people and traffic through a high-volume central shipping area.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the flow of traffic between shipping Ports, rail heads, equipment depots and Terex AWP and their shipping departments.
  • Control paperwork flow between all shipping facilities and the International/Domestic Traffic departments
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Dept. of Transportation (DOT) regulations and basic Hazardous Materials regulations
  • Assist in direction/sequence of loading shipping containers, flatbed and dry trailers
  • Coordination with trucking companies freight forwarders to monitor booking changes and issues
  • Emergency backup driver capability
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position
