About The Position

The Traffic Controller is responsible for the supervision and success of the Deerfield, FL transfer station. This role involves directing traffic, managing equipment, supervising drivers, and ensuring a safe and efficient workflow. The position requires a strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations, as well as the ability to work in a demanding outdoor environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience in waste management, logistics, or operations
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, and waste materials
• Able to sustain physical activity, including walking, standing, and lifting for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Ability to operate machinery and perform site inspection

Nice To Haves

• Higher education preferred
• OSHA certification
• CDL
• Heavy equipment operation certification
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

• Direct traffic in and out of the transfer station
• Communicate with Dispatch
• Manage equipment counts to reflect customer needs
• Supervise and train drivers
• Manage movement of equipment to ensure efficient workflow
• Enforce all safety policies and procedures and conduct regular inspections
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations
• Manage operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
• Tarping required
