About The Position

Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. The Traffic Control Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that performs tasks to manage highway traffic conditions in an integrated manner in order to assure safe traffic flow, maintaining safety for all. The ideal candidate is familiar has a thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations.

Requirements

  • 1 year (or under) experience
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
  • Entry Level Position
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean MVR, as use of Company assigned vehicles may be required to move and transport equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
  • Flagger certified

Responsibilities

  • Check to ensure that the worksite is safe
  • Set up temporary physical diverters or traffic barriers
  • Direct construction vehicles when they need to enter the roadway
  • Direct and slow down traffic using hand signals and signs to indicate the rules to drivers
  • Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
  • Practices awareness of others working alongside the paving crews and machines, exercising safety practices at all times.
  • Signal foremen and construction crew to facilitate flow and movement of traffic.

  • Perform other duties as requested and assigned
