About The Position

AWP Safety is seeking motivated individuals to join their team as a Traffic Control Technician. This role is ideal for those who enjoy diverse work environments and are looking for a dynamic career that does not require a college degree. As a Senior Protector, you will uphold AWP's core values by ensuring the safety of customers' people, businesses, and time. Your primary responsibility will be to control the movement of traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists through work zones using hand signals and a STOP/SLOW paddle, while also reviewing and executing traffic control plans to maintain safe work zones. You will coordinate with customers to ensure worker safety and contribute to AWP's mission of improving traffic safety.

Requirements

  • Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours required.
  • High School Diploma or GED completion required.
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
  • Must be able to follow safe workplace practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License void of suspension or revocation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience preferred in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones.
  • Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
  • Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner. May also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
  • Effective radio communication with team members on work site.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices.
  • Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
  • Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility Manager.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protector.
  • Other duties as assigned.
